Joint Fringe meeting with WWF Scotland at Scottish Labour Conference Dundee March 10th 2018
SERA and WWF held a joint fringe meeting with three excellent speakers:
Sarah Beattie-Smith, Senior Climate and Energy Policy Officer at WWF Scotland stressed the inadequacies of the new Climate Change Bill and the need for stronger action on targets, warm homes, transport and agriculture.
Dave Watson, Head of Policy and Public Affairs Unison Scotland a leading partner in the Just Transition Partnership discussed the need to strengthen action to secure low carbon manufacturing jobs in Scotland and talked about a move to municipal socialism as a way forward.
Richard Leonard, the new leader of the Scottish Labour Party, stressed the importance of an active environmental lobby from SERA within the Labour party, both on internal policy development and in thinking through the challenges of developments such as Brexit. He especially thanked Claudia Beamish MSP for her work.
