SERA - Labour's Environment Campaign

For over fifty years, Labour’s Environment Campaign – SERA has been at the heart of Labour policy making on the environment. We believe that safeguarding nature and adapting our economy to the needs of the planet is key to delivering opportunity, economic security and fairness.

Founded in 1973 as the Socialist Environment and Resources Association, Labour’s Environment Campaign - SERA is the only environmental group affiliated to Labour, and campaigns for the party to adopt and deliver ambitious environmental policies.

We supported the last Labour government to bring in the historic Climate Change Act – the first of its kind in the world. We will support the current Labour government as they fulfil our shared pledge to ensure Britain’s economy is made productive and sustainable and deliver a Britain that works for everyone.

From community energy to cleaning up our rivers and coastline, we're passionate about tackling the most important environmental and social challenges facing Britain. With Labour now in government ready to deliver their mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower it has never been a more important time to join us in helping them to make that happen.

As a membership organisation we act as a hub for socially just environment politics across the UK, with our members raising the profile of environmental issues in their area.

We hold events, run campaigns and work with partners across the Labour and environmental movements to shape the political debate.

We're run by a voluntary, member-elected Executive Committee. We're one of the 20 socialist societies affiliated to Labour, and are therefore represented on Labour's National Executive Committee and National Policy Forum.
