Thank you for joining Labour’s Environment Campaign – SERA at this exciting time.
For over fifty years, Labour’s Environment Campaign – SERA has been at the heart of Labour policy making on the environment. We supported the last Labour government to bring in the historic Climate Change Act – the first of its kind in the world. We support Labour in government at all levels, but particularly the new UK Labour government as they fulfil our shared pledge to ensure Britain’s economy is made productive and sustainable and deliver a Britain that works for everyone.
Thanks to Labour’s Environment Campaign – SERA’s work on the National Policy Forum and elsewhere in the party policy development processes, the Labour manifesto contained so much that is positive for our sustainable future. In pledging to achieve sustainable economic growth consistent with our Paris 1.5°C obligations to prevent catastrophic climate change; protecting our nature and biodiversity; and tackling the water pollution scandal. Labour has the most ambitious environmental platform ever and we are committed to helping Labour to achieve all this and more in government.
From our polluted rivers and seas to the climate targets the Tories abandoned; from powering ahead with the rollout of renewable energy and energy efficiency to deliver energy security and tackle fuel poverty; from the jobs we will create to the future we will build for our children - Labour’s work in government will be hard. Labour’s Environment Campaign - SERA will be there to support them, advise them, cajole them and celebrate them every step of the way.
We are absolutely delighted you have chosen to be a part of this work. More information about us and our activities can be found on our website, where we will be promoting regular events and other membership activities. We will also send you our fortnightly newsletter to keep you up to date with all our work.
We look forward to meeting you in the days, weeks and months ahead.
With best wishes,
Ken Penton and Lisa Trickett
